- Academic Pursuit: Eligible individuals should be currently enrolled in an academic program working towards a degree in one of the Natural and Basic Sciences fields at the B.Sc., B.S., and Int. M.Sc./M.S. levels. These fields include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics, Geology, Astrophysics, Astronomy, Electronics, Botany, Biochemistry, Zoology, Anthropology, Microbiology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Atmospheric Sciences, and Oceanic Sciences.
- Academic Performance: To fulfill this criterion, applicants must meet one of the following conditions:
a. Achieved a top 1% ranking in their Class 12 examination.
b. Secured a rank within the top 10,000 in competitive exams such as JEE of IIT, AIPMT, or NEET. - Recognized Achievements: Alternatively, eligibility can be attained if the applicant falls into one of the following categories:
- A National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) scholar.
- A Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) scholar.
- A medalist in an International Olympiad.

- Applicants studying subjects outside of those specified in the list are ineligible.
- Individuals pursuing education through open universities or distance education programs do not meet the eligibility criteria.
